During 2004 the National
Trust of Queensland invited the people of Queensland
to nominate a favourite Queensland Icon for inclusion in the initial
list of Queensland Heritage Icons. The plan was to add another 12
Items per year, thus building for all time a comprehensive list
of familiar items of significance in the cultural history of the
State of Queensland. Items listed will inherently represent an important
part of our history or will have contributed to our cultural identify
and have won a lasting place in our memories.
36 Queensland Icons have been announced. Queensland Museum South
Bank and the National Trust of Queensland, with the support of Bendigo
Bank, have joined forces to present the Queensland icons in the
National Trust Bendigo Bank Icons of Queensland exhibition. Please
visit Queensland
Museum website for more details.
