While some places are saved by campaigns and community involvement, circumstances can lead to the loss of others. And just when things look grim, something new can be found/identified.......

The Regent Theatre, Brisbane

The Regent Threatre opened as a combined live theatre and cinema in 1929.
The National Trust placed the Regent Threatre on its Heritage Register in 1974, citing the whole theatre as "worthy of preservation at all costs... The Regent is one of the best surviving examples of the lavish picture palaces left in Australia".

Yungaba Action Group fight against approval to develop the last remaining intact 19th century immigration depot left in Australia, leaving only a shell for the public to view from outside a gated community.

Jimna Fire Tower
JFTAG has successfully prevented demolition of the Heritage Listed, iconic, Jimna Fire Tower, due to the massive support received from the general public, the business houses and the tourism stakeholders throughout south east Queensland over the past eighteen months.

North Bank Development Brisbane
The National Trust, in response to growing community concern organised a petition respectfully asking the Queensland Government not to proceed with the North Bank proposal because of its impact on the Brisbane River and the City of Brisbane.
