AWARD CATEGORIES

Nominations are invited to address one or more criteria in the chosen category.
There is no nomination fee. A panel of judges with appropriate expertise undertakes the judging. Nominations can address one or more criteria in the chosen category.

Queensland Heritage Council - David Eades
For local heritage projects Governor's Heritage
For volunteer projects National Trust Community
  John Herbert Memorial Award
will be presented to the most outstanding nomination.

 

 


FOR PLACES IN THE QUEENSLAND HERITAGE REGISTER (QHR)


Queensland Heritage Council Awards

Recognising achievements in the conservation of places in the QHR.

  • Best practice approach to conservation planning and works in accordance with Burra Charter principles.
  • Long-term conservation outcomes, particularly ensuring a viable use.
  • High level technical skill in planning, building or other conservation activities
  • Innovative approach to overcoming logistic, technical and other problems.

Queensland Heritage Council - David Eades Awards

Recognising achievements in amalgamating conservation of places in the QHR.

  • Effective application of the principles and practices of sustainability in the adaptation and conservation of a heritage place.
  • Innovative approaches to overcoming logistic, technical and other problems of improving the energy efficiency of a heritage place.

FOR LOCAL HERITAGE PROJECTS:

The Governor's Heritage Awards

Recognising achievement in local heritage projects.

  • Undertaken by individuals, local government authorities and commercial entities.
  • Excluding places in the Queensland Heritage Register.
  • Understanding of the heritage values of a place or activity within a community, including research.
  • Actions to conserve or promote the cultural significance of a place or activity in a community (e.g. home renovation, heritage trail, festival, publication, oral history)
  • Evidence of good planning and selection of options that may support both sustainability and retention of heritage values, including home renovation.

FOR VOLUNTEER PROJECTS:

National Trust Community Awards

Recognising voluntary work in the fields of history and cultural heritage.

  • Undertaken by individuals and organisations.
  • Projects that illustrate valuable volunteer work in all fields of history and cultural heritage.
  • Activity that inspires others to enjoy the value of history and heritage through volunteer work.
  • Volunteer history and heritage projects that contribute significantly to our understanding of the continuity of Queensland society.

FOR THE MOST OUTSTANDING PROJECT:

The John Herbert Memorial Award is presented to the most oustanding nomination from across all categories listed above.
